EDITORIAL ILLUSTRATION
This illustration was created in response to the Black Lives Matters riots and protests that took place during 2020.
This is one of the first pieces that I created in direct response to something that I was seeing on the news. It was a huge talking point across multiple countries for weeks and I wanted to create something to express an opinion and use illustration as a way of showing current world events.
I knew that I didn’t want to create an illustration based on a particular scene or event. This was the first time that I felt the urge to create a piece that wasn’t for me or something to be sold at a later date, but to voice an opinion and to use illustration as a way to document and record events.
